So you are concerned about the environment. You recycle. You do your best to conserve energy. And you choose sustainable options.
But did you know there is another way to improve your environmental impact?
“Solar is the fastest-growing industry in the US” according to Rhone Resch, President of The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). The report, released jointly by SEIA and Greentech Media, went on to say that “the solar industry employs 100,000 Americans and that that number could double in the next two years. Within a few years, the US will be the world’s largest solar market, according to SEIA.”
Pointing to further evidence, the report also stated that “Solar industry manufacturing growth exceeded 31%, compared to less than 4% for overall manufacturing in the US in 2010.”
While the rapid growth trend of the solar industry might not surprise you, what might is that you don’t have to install anything to own a part of the solar energy industry.
The United States Department of Energy division of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy offers a complete list of green power products and nationally available renewable energy certificate products.
And if you are also interested in “large purchasers of solar” you can check them out too. Some that might not surprise you: Patagonia, North Face, and Whole Foods. Some that probably will surprise you: The NFL, Bonnie Rait, and Ben & Jerry’s.
